Site Updates

Lodging, Travel, & Events now available

After getting word that some of our hotels and travel businesses are stepping up to help the community, I wanted to make sure their contributions were highlighted. So, we now have a category for Lodging, Travel, & Events businesses.

Again, this directory is focused on brick-and-mortar businesses, so please use good judgment and help us keep it focused on those whose ability to do business has been the most profoundly affected.

The directory search allows you to search for businesses that have free goods or services available to needy folks in our community, so I’m especially invested in highlighting businesses who are able to give during this time. Please be sure to include any free meals, services, and activities your businesses are offering to the needy!

Bars and Breweries have their own space!

Bars and Breweries now have their own category, so you can find out where to get your cans and kegs! Restaurants are now a solo category, and Bars that were previously in that category have been moved over.

Brewery culture is huge in PDX, and these fine folks are hustling to deliver beer (and in some cases, food!) directly to your door.

Keep adding and sharing your listings, everyone! And don’t forget that you can contact me about being a Community Moderator. I’ll make it as simple as possible for you!

New category for Pet Supplies & Services

I should have guessed how important our furry pals are to us, especially in these trying times. With that in mind, we now have a category exclusively for Pet Supplies and Services. So, pet sitting, dog walking, and pet grooming businesses, this one’s for you.

For the rest of you, here’s a photo of my own handsome little dude, Zergling, keeping my socks and sweater toasty for me until I come back for them. (or maybe the other way around…?)

Expanded Locations: Beaverton, Gresham, and Vancouver WA

Good Monday to you all! I’ve just activated locations for Beaverton, Gresham, and Vancouver WA, so our friends in Portland’s surrounding metro area can be listed.

We’re still very much looking for any help y’all can spare with adding listings. You do NOT have to be a business owner to add listings, so create an account and get to adding. All listings are reviewed by human eyes before being listed in the directory.

If you’re a business owner whose shop has already been listed, you can claim your business and be given access to update your listing.

Keep fighting the good fight, friends. We’re in this together. <3

Share Your Community Offerings

The directory now allows you to search for businesses with free offerings to the community during this difficult time. We definitely encourage y’all to share any offerings that you hear about! This includes restaurants offering free meals, businesses offering free items or activities for kids, etc.

In the meantime, we’re continuing to work on adding businesses as we hear about their status. If you’d like to help out, just create an account and start adding listings, and we’ll get them reviewed and approved!

New tagging for Ownership

Just added: the directory now includes a field where business owners can indicated if their ownership is Womxn, BIPOC, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Queer, if they so choose.

We’ve included Womxn, Queer, and BIPOC as commonly underrepresented groups, so you can shop according to your values and support those who are regularly affected by systemic barriers.

We’ve also specifically chosen to shine a light on AAPI-owned businesses, because they have seen the most negative impacts on their businesses due to COVID-19. We implore you all to do what you can to support AAPI-owned businesses, in particular, during this time.

We’re live! Thanks for checking out the site. My hope is that it can be a resource both for small business owners, and people who care about supporting small business in our community.

Right now, my focus is populating the directory with information, so your help with that is instrumental. If you have a brick-and-mortar business, or have info about the status of a brick-and-mortar in your area, create an account and add a business to the directory.

Also, if you run across any lingering bugs or technical issues, please use the contact form to let me know! I’ll address these issues as I’m able to.

Thanks again for supporting small business, and I’ll add updates as they come. <3
